Violette F Rosell

Violette “Vi” Florida Rosell, 98, of Sun City West, AZ passed away peacefully on April 21, 2014. She was born in St. Petersburg, FL and grew up on a farm in Plainview, MN. After some college years, Vi married Mervin “Merv” Rosell in 1936. Merv was an evangelist who traveled extensively preaching and doing missions work. Early on, they traveled together; then, when the children arrived and started school they settled in Rochester, MN until 1951 when they moved to Southern CA. Vi lovingly cared for her family throughout the years of Merv’s ministry, wholeheartedly supporting his calling from God. She was renown for her hospitality and her cooking, warmly welcoming all to their home, and treasuring family visits. She enjoyed travel, gardening, volunteering in community and at church, and read avidly all her life.

Vi and Merv retired to AZ in 1989 where they worshiped and served at Grace Bible Church in Sun City. Vi was a deaconess there, and when she could no longer attend church, the deaconesses have faithfully visited her. After Merv’s death in 2001, following the plan they had made together, she lived 8 years independently in Grandview Terrace in Sun City West and 5 years in the Grandview Care Center. Special appreciation is expressed for the wonderful, loving care she received from the staff there.

Vi was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Ida Weagant, and three brothers, Arthur, Burt and Stanley Weagant. She is survived by a daughter Merlynn Bergen and two sons, Garth (Jane) and Jan (Kay) Rosell; six grandchildren: Eric (Debbie) and Daniel (Dawn) Bergen; Karen, Robert (Patti), Mark, and Michael (Rhiannon) Rosell and 11 great-grandchildren: Drew (Marie), Stephen, Micah, Cassia, Timothy, Wesley, Miles and Tyler, Cole, Austin, and Olivia. Vi said she prayed for each family member daily and we have all been blessed by seeing her reading her Bible and praying each morning. How we loved her!

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014 (with viewing one hour prior) at Sunland Memorial Park, 15826 Del Webb Blvd, Sun City, AZ 85351.
