Wanda was born into a close-knit and loving family on November 2, 1943 in Evansville, Indiana to William and Frieda Lott. They moved to Arizona in 1956 where the family planted roots.
As a teenager, she was a clothing model for Goldwater’s Department Store.
Wanda married Ronald Dugger and had two children, Ronald II and Tracee. They moved to Texas in 1978. She was very active in the community of Whitesboro where she served on the Chamber of Commerce and was involved in directing local plays. They owned a dairy farm until the death of Ronald.
For many years, Wanda worked in various levels of retail management and excelled in every job she held. This is where she met and married David Hesse and became Daniel’s Mom.
Wanda answered the call to enter the healthcare profession in Occupational Therapy to passionately begin taking care of those unable to care for themselves.
Wanda returned to Arizona in 2001 where she and her beloved sisters spent the following years laughing and making sweet memories.
She spent the last 17 years of her professional career as the Director of Rehabilitation at Freedom Plaza in Sun City where she was able to help hundreds of patients achieve a better quality of life. Her dedication to her profession inspired many of her colleagues to aspire to be better and achieve greater things in their personal and professional lives.
Despite a devastating diagnosis and rigorous treatments, Wanda still found time to create a support group to help others going through the same thing that she was.
Wanda leaves her husband David; her sons Ronald Dugger II and wife Jeanyne, Daniel Hesse and wife Emily, and daughter Tracee Parenti; her grandchildren Heather and Allison Parenti, Joshua Dugger and wife Stephanie, and Loren and Charlotte Hesse; her great-grandchildren Kelleigh Parenti and Madalynn Early; her sisters Carol Harcrow, Ronni Rizzo, Rosanne Lofton and husband Ronnie, Bonnie Palmer and husband Dennis, Charles Lott and Daniel Lott; her dog Bandit; numerous nieces and nephews and several special friends.
Wanda was preceded in death by her first husband Ronald Dugger, her father William, her mother Frieda, her brother Tom and her beloved dog Fannie.
In lieu of flowers, Wanda’s family requests that donations be made in her name to her favorite charities who will miss her support--St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, SPCA, or St. Mary’s Food Bank.
We would like to thank Shelly Gandhok MD, Paravasthu Ramanujam MD and Banner Hospice for taking such good care of our Mom.
