
After briefly attending Bluffton College, he transferred to and graduated from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois. Following his ordination as an evangelical minister, he pastored churches in Oregon and Illinois. During this time, he also graduated from Aurora College, now Aurora University, Aurora, Illinois.
Rev. Augsburger retired from the ministry in the 1950’s and worked for the next 20 years as an office supervisor for a manufacturing firm in Maywood, Illinois. Upon retiring from this position at age 65, he and his wife Billie, now deceased, moved to Sun City, Arizona, where he worked in a local delicatessen until the age of 95.
Ill health then necessitated that he move to Carrollton, Georgia, to be closer to his children. He resided there in a retirement center until his death on June 19, 2011.
Rev. Augsburger is survived by a brother Victor, three children, four grand children and two great grand children. The children and their spouses are Wilson Lee and his wife Frieda, Grayson Terry and his wife Teresa and Heidi Petach and her husband Jay. The grandchildren are Gretchen Cooper, Nikola Augsburger Torres, Jeffrey Petach and Lee Augsburger. The great grandchildren are William Raphael Augsburger Torres and Jaden William Petach.
Funeral services and interment will occur at Sunland Memorial Park and Mortuary in Sun City, Arizona, starting at 9:00a.m. on June 27. Viewing will occur one hour prior to service.
