Carl Antonio Yaconelli

Carl was born October 5, 1942 in Long Beach, CA, second generation born in America to an Italian immigrant family. He leaves Mary, his wife of 39 years, two sons Larry and Carl II, two grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He grew up in the Sacramento, CA area and moved to Sun City Festival, Buckeye, Arizona in November 2007.

Carl was a Navy veteran, serving on the USS Ticonderoga during his service from 1960 to 1963. After the Navy, he began a civil service career with the USAF at McClellan AFB, retiring in 1999 with a total of 37 years military and civilian service.

Growing up Carl enjoyed fishing and camping, hobbies he continued most of his adult life. He bought a Jeep and liked to go off road through the Sierras with his 4WD club. Later in life he traded the Jeep for a golf cart and the ever frustrating game of golf. He and Mary were able to tour many states including Alaska in their RV and to take several cruises to destinations in the Caribbean, Mexico and Mediterranean.

Interment will be at the Veterans National Cemetery, Phoenix, AZ. A private memorial will be held at a later date.
