

Curt was born in Galesburg, IL on July 27, 1944 to Elizabeth and Wayne Simpson. He is survived by his wife Patricia (Crouse), sons, Brent (Karen) of Minocqua, WI and Robert of Gilbert, AZ and his grandchildren, Connor and Kennedy. He is also survived by his brother Phil Simpson (Kathy), sisters, Pat Plotner, Leah Hall (John Khulmann) and Cathy Bowen (Robert), his step-children Jennifer Stoker (fiancée Todd Henry) of St. Charles, MO, Darren (Bonnie) Berline of Mandeville LA, Doug Berline of Springfield, OR and step-grandchildren Joseph and Jacob Stoker.
He was proceeded in death by his parents and foster parents, Robert and Mildred Webber, wife Connie (Kennelly) and brother, Rev. John Simpson (Mary Nell).
Curt was a fireman for the City of Peoria, IL, retiring as Assistant Chief in 2008 after 31 years of service. He always said, “it was the best job I ever had”. He served as a Unit Commander and helicopter pilot with the Illinois National Guard, retiring in 1989 with the rank of Major. He was also the sitting President of the Sun Country Corvette Club.
He was a licensed private pilot, avid golfer, fisherman and traveler. He enjoyed driving his Corvette and Harley as well as his work with the corvette club.
Services with firefighter and military honors will be held for friends and family on August 20th at 10:00 am at Christ‘s Church of the Valley (CCV) 7007 W. Happy Valley Rd., Peoria, AZ. A live video stream will be available for those unable to attend. Details to be communicated separately. Social distancing and mask wearing must be practiced for those attending in person.
A Celebration of Life for Illinois friends and family will be held Saturday, September 12 from 1-5 pm at the Peoria Firefighter’s Club, 203 S. 4th St., Dunlap, IL. Social distancing and mask wearing must be practiced for those attending in person. In following Illinois Covid restrictions, the venue can only accommodate 50 people at any given time. Please understand that you may need to wait to enter if the venue is at capacity. Please be aware these details are subject to change pending Illinois’ ever-changing Covid gathering restrictions.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be sent to The Alzheimer’s Association, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Cleveland Clinic Heart and Vascular Research.
