Dan was born in Tucson, Arizona on January 7, 1948. He graduated from Maple Height’s High School, in Maple Height’s, Ohio in 1966. Dan attended Auburn University of Montgomery for approximately one year.
He joined the Marine Corp in December of 1966 and served for 4 years. Dan also served in Viet Nam (Da Nang) 1968 to 1969.
He worked for the State of Delaware in Social Services for 17 years where he retired.
Dan enjoyed riding motorcycles, sailing, power boating, traveling to Italy, trips to wineries around the country, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Theresa (Gattra) Chappell of 55 years, daughters Lori Henderson and Alyssa Jones, granddaughters Monica Chappell and LaKiesha Chappell, great-grandchildren Jayden Jones, Castielle Jones, Aleah Chappell and Izabella Chappell, and his brother Samuel Chappell (wife Bobbie Chappell) of Burks, Virginia.
