Linda Simpson Smith

Linda Simpson Smith (Underwood), age 74 of Surprise, Arizona, died peacefully in her sleep on April 1, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul Lee Underwood and Mary Virginia Underwood, her sister Lisa Underwood, and her brother David Underwood (infant). She is survived by her children, Don Simpson of Surprise, AZ, Rob Simpson of Irvine, CA, and Rusty Smith of Irvine, CA; her sister Kathy Phlegar of Bluefield, WV, and her brother Steve Underwood of Roanoke, VA; five grandchildren, Jaedyn Simpson of Layton, UT, Jake Simpson of Surprise, AZ, Kali Simpson of Mountain Grove, MO, Hayden Simpson of Irvine, CA, and Remy Smith of Irvine, CA. Graveside services will be held Thursday, May 19 at 2:45 p.m. (ET) at the Roselawn Cemetery in Princeton, WV.

Linda attended Berea College, and then Cal State Los Angeles where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in March of 1972. Five years later, she returned to college at Cal State Long Beach. There she completed a Master of Science in Nursing with a concentration as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in December of 1981. For over 40 years, she worked as a nurse in hospitals, schools, and case management. She was passionate about helping people, she loved the mountains and beaches, and she loved spending time with her family and watching movies with them.
