Marjorie Kay (Doolittle) Stevens of Lansing, Michigan and Phoenix, Arizona, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2024, at the age of 79. She was born on April 27, 1945, in Lansing, Michigan, where she grew up.
She met the love of her life, Gary, when she was 9. She told his father that she was going to marry his son one day. And she did! They were married until he passed in 2013. She worked as a beautician and owned her own salon, The Hair Pin. Her favorite statement was, “I’m a beautician, not a magician!” She loved to laugh and make others laugh by telling jokes. She never met a stranger and would often say, “I love you” when saying goodbye. It didn’t matter if she only met them that day. She was known by her grandchildren as Mema. She was a selfless, loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend.
She embodied The Wife of Noble Character in Proverbs 31.
She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.
She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.
Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:
“Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.”
She is preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Gary, her parents, Lawrence and Helen Doolittle, and her brother Larry Doolittle.
She is survived by her siblings: Harold Doolittle, Joyce Davis, and Donald Doolittle, her three daughters: Theresa Stevens, Angela (Kevin) Shope, and Shelly (Tim) O’Connor, her grandchildren: Leanne, Jessie, Erica, Julian, Brittney, Alana, and Liam, her great-grandchildren: Jordan, Priscilla, Antonio (AJ), Jayden, Aubrey, Riley, Adrian, Alaura, Jason Jr., and Lovelyn.
The family would like to thank Eddie, Christian, Josefina, Bebe, and Hospice of the Valley for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in her final days.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at The English Inn, 677 S Michigan Road, Eaton Rapids, Michigan, on November 9, 2024, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
