

Mildred Rose Kirkel, 90 of Sun City West, AZ and formerly of Bellwood, IL, passed away on January 15, 2013 with her family by her side. She was born on August 21, 1922 in Chicago, IL to Adolph and Rose Zajebal. Mildred graduated from J. Sterling Morton High School in 1940. She entered the US Navy in 1943, was a WAVE, proudly served her country during WWII. Mildred worked in the clerical and accounting department for Sears, Co in Melrose Park, IL until her retirement in 1981. She and her husband came to Arizona and resided in Sun City where she would become a volunteer for Interfaith, Boswell Hospital, and with Hospice for Alzheimer’s patients. Mildred also was an active member of the Czech Club of Sun City and the Spin-offs. She will be forever loved and missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her son David (Jean) Kirkel; daughter Janice Kirkel; two grandchildren David Parrish and Cindy Newman; and five great-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Mildred is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Leo Kirkel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Alzheimer’s Association or to Hospice of the Valley. The Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, January 21, 2013 with Visitation beginning at 10:00 am at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Mortuary, 4450 W. Cermak Rd., Forest Park, IL.
