Patti was born on March 30, 1953 in Moline, IL, the daughter of John H. and Monica A. (Sinkus) Brown, Jr. Patti attended school in Moline, was confirmed at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, and graduated from Moline High School. She married the love of her life, Terry in November of 1971 also at Holy Cross. They were married for 52 years.
Patti’s dream of being a wife, homemaker and mom was fulfilled and evident every day of her life. Her main motivation in life was serving Jesus and loving on people. Her joyful smile and generous hugs were showered on all around her. She was also quick with a bible verse or sharing her love of Jesus with anyone in need. Patti graciously served her family, volunteered at church through Sunday School, VBS, and whatever else needed to be done. She was involved in bible study, Lutherans for Life, and the Lutheran Women's Missionary League.
Patti had the privilege of being a secretary at Holy Cross for 20 years where she enjoyed serving, working with her besties and fellowship with all. She loved to bake and created amazing cakes for her children, grandchildren and family events. Patti also had a great talent for crochet/knitting creating creations for those she loved.
She counted her husband, kids/spouses and grandkids as her greatest blessings in this life. Patti showered us with love through her words, calls, emails, texts, time and gifts. Her family and friends were extremely important to her and even if she hadn’t talked to them in a while, they were on her mind.
To know Patti was to love her. Her love radiated through her joyful smile, generous hugs, and sharing of her faith. Though her ultimate dream has been fulfilled, she will be greatly missed.
Patti is survived by her husband, Terry Hawkins (Surprise, AZ); children and grandchildren Jen and Dave Backhaus, Averie, Adyson and Anaelise (Elmhurst, IL); Matt Hawkins, Owen and Mallory (Bettendorf, IA); and Amber and Brandon Henley, Hailey and Gavin Mason, Layla, Carter and Logan (Waddell, AZ). She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Shirley Waters, and brother John H. Brown III.
