

Robert L. Ross, 93, formerly of Green Bay/Kewaunee, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2026 at Sun City West, AZ after a long fight with cancer and dementia. He was born on May 26, 1932 in New Holstein, WI to Rueben Ross and Margaret (Henschel) Ross.
He attended East High School, where he met the love of his life Yolonda Soutieau. Upon graduation in 1951, he enlisted in the US Army, married Yolonda and was shipped to the Korean Conflict. He received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart and returned home. After attempting other careers, the military pulled him back in and he continued for the next 38 years as a Command Sergeant Major in the Army Reserves in Green Bay and Kewaunee. He also served as the Civilian Administrator of the Kewaunee Army Reserve Unit. He retired in 1992, to spend the rest of his time with Yolonda and the family.
Robert is survived by his son Christopher (Mary) Ross of Sun City West; daughter Holly Ross Baril of DePere, and daughter-in-law Ann Ross of Suamico; grandchildren: Katie (Matt) Helmeid, Kristen (Blake Kobashigawa) Ross, Alex (Abbey) Baril, Brooke Baril, Jonathan (Shuara) Ross; great-grandchildren: Dylan Helmeid, Mason Helmeid, Dani Kobashigawa, Gaby Kobashigawa, and Adalynn Baril. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Yolonda, son David, and brother Stewart Ross.
Visitation will be held at Newcomer Chapel (340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay, WI), Thursday, May 14, 2026 from 9 to 10 AM. A memorial service will follow at 10 AM with full military honors.
