My condolences to the entire Smith family.  Sara was, indeed, a lovely lady and will be so missed by all of you.
May you find comfort in the memories of all the love she bestowed upon her family.

I have an everlasting scene forever ingraved in my mind. On one of our many trips on Lake Michigan, the whole family was snacking and enjoying the sunset when Grandma invited me up to sit with her on the front seat across from the wheel(a seat I considered of high quality and importance). There, in the light of a beautiful sunset, I nearly fell asleep on Grandma. Such a sweet moment. I always loved her cooking, her bright smile, and her creative artistry. It was always a delight to check her cookie jar for a sweet treasure on trips to the Michigan house. There she taught me many crafts, shared many toys from the tall toy closet, and listened and applauded to my shaky piano practices on the old piano. She was truely a blessing, and I miss her dearly.

Asparagus, salmon, black-eyed peas, chili rellenos, American goulash.  These are some of my favorite foods and all first introduced to me by Sara.  What an exceptional cook and hostess.  She was an accepting, generous, and warm mother-in-law to me and I am blessed to be part of her family.  
I'll never forget and always appreciate that she phoned me at work to tell me how happy she was to hear I was soon to propose marriage to her daughter Rachelle.  What a gift of acceptance and grace that was!
A loving, generous, and patient grandmother to her three grandchildren.  She and Charlie provided countless fond memories for their kids and grand kids of times on the boat, at the beach, and in and around their Sun City Grand community in AZ.
Thank you for all you've done for me, Rachelle, and Grace over the years, Sara.
I'll miss my Bridge partner.  Rest in peace.

Dear Charlie, Craig and Rachelle -- I was so sorry to hear today that Sara has passed away.  She was such a positive, kind and caring woman, I have thought of her often through the years.  She always knew just the right thing to say, in any situation.  Whether counselling and defending a very opinionated teen, or comforting a middle aged woman on the loss of her parents.

I was sad to hear of Sara's passing.  Sara (Mrs. Smith to me) made me feel welcome during those thousand or so times I was over at her and Mr. Smith's house hanging out with Craig.  I have wonderful memories of her support and kindness to me, my brothers, and the neighborhood kids as we were growing up with Craig.

I was so sad to hear of the passing of your mother. She always made us happy just to be around her. Her smile and positive energy would rub off on everyone. I remember her walking down the street with you dad taking Grace to the neighbor park and she was so proud if her granddaughter. You were so blessed to have such a wonderful mother. She is singing with the angels now.  May God give you and your family peace. You are in my prayers old friend.

Sara and I were in the same Pledge Class of the Pi Beta Phi sorority at the University of Nebraska. We were initiated in 1955 and our whole class had a lot of fun together. Sara was always happy and positive; she was always willing to jump into any project we had.  It's easy to remember Sara.  Rest well, Sister!

The first thing about grandma that everyone loved was her cooking. She always made the best dishes, better than any restaurant. Grandma always had a smile on her face. Christmas was most definitely her favorite time of year. The most memorable part of my childhood was Christmas at Papa's and Grandma's house in St. Joseph.She had a warm spirit and kind heart. She was a very lovable person, a wonderful grandmother, and a friend I will never forget.

I will always remember the wonderful times I spent with grandma Sarah. She was a beloved individual who always cared for others. Grandma Sarah always made divine dishes for when I would visit.I always felt very special.Grandma will always be cherished in my heart.

Sara was a wonderful mother-in-law. She always made our time together full of joy. We would set out on adventures in St. Joe investigating new stores and restaurants,as well as enjoying the lake front talking.
Sara's creativity was endless from fun adventures with the family to home decorating advice.She had impeccable taste.
Sara was always willing to help us with whatever we needed. I new I could call and she would be there. Sara's dedication and loyalty to her family was endless.
Sara was a blessing to our children.What a fantastic grandmother.  She made each one of her grandchildren feel very special and loved.
Sara was a wonderful mother. I see so much of Sara in Craig and Shelle.
Both are highly motivated, loving, Christ following, self sacrificing and creative individuals.
Sara was a special friend to me and I was blessed to be her daughter-in-law.

So very sorry to read of Sara's passing. She was truly a beautiful person, and I so enjoyed our visits when I would make a delivery to her. Loved seeing pictures of your children and trips abroad. Two memories of Sara stand out for me. The first is the Thanksgiving she and Charlie visited and brought the now infamous "Singing Christmas Tree" house warming gift. The kids loved it, and Joy and and I endured it for several years, but it always brought a smile to our faces in remembrance of a wonderful holiday time. The second was her (also at the same holiday I think) showing me how to make gravy for the turkey. She is a sweet lady who is now free from all earthly encumbrances, forever in the presence of her Lord Jesus, waiting to be reunited with her family there.

Aunt Sara, so fun and kind, will be missed.

Dear Charlie, 

Mary and I just learned of Sara passing.  We pray that God will sustain you through this difficult time with the many memories you and Sara built together and the knowledge that Sara is now a resident in heaven in a mansion exactly as Christ promised to all who know him as Savior and Lord.

I have wonderful memories of Sara and Charles when they were in Central City during my years at CCHS. Sara was a lovely person. My sincere condolences to the Smith family.

I remember Sara  well, from both UNL where she went by "Sara Jane"and in Central City. She was such a fun and enthusiastic person, enriching the lives of those with whom she came into contact.

Where to begin? I was fortunate and so thankful to call her and Chuck not only a neighbor,but very good friends with whom Mike and I enjoyed so many good times - particularly our neighborhood New Years Eve celebrations which were spent at home in our neighborhood. Sara and I giggled about so many things - she was truthfully the most smiley person I have ever known and she shared  that smile to the very end.  She and 
chuck parented two wonderful children who have made them such proud parents. Sara will always have a special place in my heart and in the hearts of all who knew her. Bless you  Chuck  for being the devoted husband to your wonderful wife to the very end.

Charlie and Sara were our first friends as a couple ... it was Burwell, Nebraska in 1959 ... we have kept in touch for 56 years ... we had such great visits when we stopped by their Michigan home ... the preserved fruit always embellished the great breakfasts and dinners in their glassed in porch.  Our times together extended to California and Arizona as the years passed.  

We will cherish our times with Sara.  She was a great friend.

Al and I are so saddened to hear of Sara's passing. She is well loved  and a great friend and will always have a place in our hearts.Love has no boundaries and while she is no longer physically here, her spirit is all around us.  We will never forget her.  God bless you Sara and keep,you in His care.

We will all miss Sara; she touched so many of our lives in so many enduring ways.
