Sheila was born on July 23, 1938, in the home of her loving parents, George and Helen Schliening, in Scottsbluff, NE. She attended school in Scottsbluff and graduated in 1956. While a senior in high school, she met the love of her life, Charles Ford Lovelace, Jr., who grew up on his family's farm in Mitchell Valley, NE. Chuck was attending Chadron State College at that time. After high school graduation, Sheila attended business classes at the junior college in Scottsbluff and worked as a secretary for the J. D. Fenimore Insurance Agency. The couple married on September 4, 1957, at the Salem Congregation Church in Scottsbluff, NE. They lived in the North Platte Valley area for most of their lives, where Chuck engaged in farming. Her parents owned and operated the Holland Bakery in Scottsbluff for many years, and Sheila also worked there, alongside her parents and her brothers, Steve and Stan. The Holland Bakery would eventually relocate from South Broadway to further north on Broadway, where it was combined with the Golden Dipper Ice Cream Emporium. Sheila helped expand the business to include a delicatessen.
After their marriage, Chuck and Sheila moved to a farm south of Henry, NE, in the 1960's, where they started their family. Being an accomplished pianist and organist, Sheila played the organ at the First United Methodist Church in Henry, where her family attended on a regular basis. She also helped conduct Vacation Bible School at the church when her children were young. She taught music at the Henry school for a time and also at other country schools in the area. Sheila and Chuck later moved to the nearby town of Mitchell, NE, where they finished raising their children. The family was involved in the Independent Baptist Church of Morrill, NE, at that time. Sheila played the organ at that church on different occasions and assisted with nursing-home visitation and other church activities for many years. Sheila worked at the State Farm insurance agency while living near Mitchell, while continuing to help in the family bakery business in Scottsbluff. The Schlienings finally sold the bakery business in 1982. Sheila and Chuck then moved to Gering and then later to Scottsbluff, and Sheila worked at the Gering Medical Clinic during those years. The couple retired in 2002, when they moved to Arizona to be closer to their grown children.
Sheila loved being a mother to Michael, Holly, and Thomas. She was a committed wife to her beloved husband, Chuck, and she maintained close relationships with many extended family members and friends. Relationships were very important to Sheila throughout her life. She had a strong work ethic and left a legacy of selflessness, gentle strength, and humble devotion that will live on for generations. She led by example, and her quiet grace and gentle presence will be cherished in the hearts of her family and friends. The surviving family rejoices that Sheila is no longer struggling, nor is she in pain. Sheila placed her faith in the Lord Jesus as a young child, and this was always important to her. Her ambassadorship for the Lord Jesus was strong throughout her life, as He led her to follow His example. She is now receiving her reward in the presence of God.
Sheila was preceded to Heaven by her parents, George and Helen Schliening, brother Steve Schliening; and loving husband, Chuck. She is survived by her brother Stanley (Tammy) Schliening of Rapid City, SD; sister-in-law Charlotte Schliening (wife of Steve) of Red Feather Lakes, CO; son Michael (Kim) Lovelace of Prescott Valley, AZ; daughter Holly (Tim) Fegler of Benkelman, NE; son Thomas Lovelace of Surprise, AZ; grandson Eric Lovelace of Perkins, OK; granddaughter Sadie Lovelace of Prescott Valley, AZ; granddaughter Helen Marie Heinrich of Prescott, AZ; great-grandson Everett Rembert of Prescott Valley, AZ; great-granddaughter Audrey Rembert of Prescott Valley, AZ; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
