

Thomasina Enos James Thomas, a remarkable individual known for his achievements in academics, athletics, and entrepreneurship, passed away on July 3rd, 2023. He was born on September 2, 1964, in Tucson, Arizona to Alton J. Thomas and Blanche Evelyn Williams.
Thomasina's journey of success began during his younger years at Utterback Middle School, where his exceptional talents in sports and academics started to shine. He continued to excel and graduated from Pueblo High School in 1982, leaving a lasting impression as a scholar and an extraordinarily gifted athlete. His skills in basketball and track earned him an athletic scholarship to Central Arizona College, and later he pursued his collegiate studies at Arizona State University.
Thomasina embodied resilience and determination early on in his life. Even when he pulled a hamstring muscle during a crucial 4x4 relay track race, he refused to let it hinder him and continued running, showcasing his incredible strength and willpower.
Thomasina had an extreme passion for entrepreneurship which led him to be the founder of Campus Rainbow, an organization that sought to highlight the importance of the mind, goals, and education of black women, rather than solely focusing on physical appearance. Through pageants, events, calendars, photoshoots, and other activities, Campus Rainbow was able to successfully capture the true feminine essence and transform the idea of beauty throughout the community. For as true beauty lies not only in the flesh, but rather it shimmers and flourishes behind the eyes.
Despite the demands of his education and athletic commitments, Thomasina embraced the role of a single father, raising three children with unwavering love and dedication. His devotion to his family was evident throughout his life, as he navigated the challenges of parenthood with grace and strength. He always wanted to be remembered as a good father.
In 1997, Thomasina relocated from Tucson to Phoenix, where he embarked on a new chapter of his career as a car salesman at Camelback Toyota. His charisma and professionalism made him a respected figure in the industry, as he built lasting relationships with colleagues and customers alike.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Thomasina’s tenacity, vision, fearlessness, and refusal to give up were qualities that not only propelled his own endeavors but also inspired those around him to persevere and find a way to achieve their dreams.
Thomasina's unwavering belief in the power of education and his entrepreneurial drive continued to shape his life. He embraced new opportunities, always seeking to push boundaries and foster personal growth. His entrepreneurial spirit remained a driving force throughout his life, passing his legacy down to his children: Trasina, Ali, and Elijah. Continuously encouraging them to pursue their passions and make a difference in their communities.
Thomasina E.J. Thomas is preceded in death by his loving parents, Alton J. Thomas and Blanche Evelyn Williams, his sister Sharon, his brother O'Valent, and his brother-in-law James. He leaves behind a legacy of resilience, perseverance, and a profound impact on the lives of those he touched.
His memory will forever live on in the hearts of his children, family, friends, and the countless individuals whose lives were enriched by his wisdom, compassion, and indomitable spirit.
Thomasina's presence will be deeply missed by his wife Lonnie; Children: Trasina (Kevin), Ali, Elijah; and Grandchildren: Zayden, Nylah, and Royal.
His legacy of striving for excellence and fostering love will continue to inspire generations to come.
