November 2nd, 1914 – July 16th, 2017
At the ripe old age of 102, Anna J, Wall passed peacefully away. For the past eleven years she resided at the Evergreen Baptist Campus of Care on Oxford St., White Rock, BC. Her family would like to express their gratitude to the staff for all the loving care she received there over the years.
Anna was born in the Mennonite community of Plum Coulee, Manitoba, and was the eldest of nine children. In her mid-twenties, she attended and graduated from the McKellar School of Nursing; her first posting was at the TB Hospital near Gimli, Manitoba. Anna moved to Vancouver / Point Grey in the 1940s where she continued her career working as a Public Health Nurse for the City of Vancouver in the downtown East End. She retired in 1975.
Anna loved nature, animals, music and gardening. She supported many charities including the SPCA, World Vision, Covenant House, and was also a supporter of the Council of Canadians. In 1974, she designed her own home, a gothic arch, on Northcrest Drive in South Surrey. She had many close friends and neighbours. These, along with her dogs Echo, Titus, Sonya, and Bart, were her closest companions.
Anna is survived by her two youngest brothers, Edmund (Violet) Wall and Lester Wall, many grand nieces and nephews, throughout Canada and the US who will miss her profoundly.
A memorial will be held in the chapel at First Memorial Fraser Heights Chapel (14835 Fraser Highway, Surrey BC) in Surrey at a future date. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made on her behalf to the SPCA in Surrey, BC.
