August 13, 1933 – July 16, 2013
On July 16, 2013, Barry Johnson passed away in White Rock, BC, at the age of 79, after a three year struggle with strokes, cancer and dementia. He leaves behind his son Daniel (Jan) of Surrey, BC; daughter Colleen of Courtenay, BC; grandchildren Tamera, Cheyenne, Benjamin and Kylie; and ten brothers and sisters (two predeceased).
He was born in rural Edberg, Alberta. He had a 50 year career as a Tinsmith and Sheet Metal Mechanic. He was admired for the quality of his craftsmanship, which carried over into carpentry and drafting. He was a talented artist, a skilled photographer, took pride in his Norwegian heritage, loved to debate and encouraged others to pursue continuing education.
A celebration of his life will be held on August 13, 2013 at 1 p.m. at the Scandinavian Community Centre, 6540 Thomas St, Burnaby, BC.
