Betty Lauriente

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Betty on January 13, 2012 at the age of 83. She is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Douglas (Buzz) McGibney, her brother, Mervyn Wallace, her children Debbie (Gary), Darcie (Scott) and James (Lori), her grandchildren Gord (Shannon), Julie, Dion, Lana, Leigha and Jacqueline, and her great grandson, John. She is predeceased by her first husband, John Lauriente. Betty was born and raised in Calgary, AB where she met her first husband while working as a lab tech for Cominco. Betty and John raised their three children in Calgary, moving with them to Trail, BC in 1967. After John’s death she married Buzz and moved to White Rock which was their home for the last 25 years. Betty will be remembered for her sense of humour and acumen at Bridge. Her favorite sports were golfing, curling, and later lawn bowling. Throughout her life she loved to volunteer at various organizations, most recently at Superfluity in White Rock. She enjoyed many different hobbies, in particular gardening and cooking. Betty was always very dedicated to her family and was happiest at family gatherings. She was greatly loved and will be deeply missed. There will be a small family gathering at Victory Memorial Park Funeral Home, 14831-28 Ave, Surrey, BC at 1:00 pm on Thursday, January 19, 2012.
