Brent Marsden McMullin, age 82, of Surrey, British Columbia passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 20, 2025, in Delta, British Columbia. A man of enduring faith, deep love, and quiet strength, Brent left behind a legacy that will live on through the countless lives he touched.
Brent is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Barbara, and their children: Brenna (Wade Baumgartner), Bevin (Dolly Fyffe), Blake (Ana Parilla), Brandys Evans, Blyn (Victor Loewen), Bryan, Brett (Andrew Stewart), Brad (Jen Mapson), and Benjamin (Lianne Roberts). He is lovingly remembered by his 28 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and his brother Doran (Marilynne Killen). He was predeceased by his parents, Arthur Munns McMullin and Melba Rose Marsden, and his sisters Denai Bateman and Glenda Harr.
Born in Edmonton, Alberta July 21, 1942, Brent’s early life was filled with music and sports. He played piano, reaching level Grade 6, when basketball captured his heart. He continued playing through high school and university, and later gave back by coaching and refereeing. From his parents, he inherited a powerful example of faith and service, which guided him throughout his life.
At 18, Brent served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in British Columbia. This formative experience shaped his life’s purpose: to serve, uplift, and love others. Brent later served as Bishop in the White Rock ward, continuing his lifelong devotion to his church and community.
Brent earned a degree in Marketing and Commerce from the University of Alberta and went on to build a meaningful and varied career. His professional journey took him from Edmonton, Toronto and back to British Columbia, working with companies like Eaton’s, Shell, Bodysentials, Forest Lawn Memorial, Beaver Lumber, BM Lumber, and West Fraser Timber—where he designed the company's logo. Later, he pursued entrepreneurial ventures in supplements, skincare, and perfume, always driven by creativity and care. Wherever he lived—Edmonton, Vancouver, Victoria, North and West Vancouver, White Rock/South Surrey—Brent brought energy and commitment to every community he joined. But Brent’s greatest devotion was to his family. He involved his children in everything: building six homes, working at the lumberyard, gardening (especially his prized tomatoes and dahlias), and most memorably, making chocolates—a beloved family tradition spanning generations. Through his quiet example, his children have carried forward his values of hard work, creativity, and service.
In his final years, Brent faced health challenges with grace and was embraced by the compassionate staff at Northcrest Care Centre, who became extended family to him. Brent’s life was one of steady love, humble service, and unwavering faith. His legacy lives on in the hearts and hands of his family and all who had the privilege to know him.
A private graveside service will be held for the family.
A Celebration of Life will take place at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 15450 20 Ave, Surrey, BC.
