Predeceased by his loving wife Doreen, who he met when she came for a weekend visit from Vancouver in 1958. Bruce is survived by his three children Colleen (Mike), Jeri (Bruce), and Rusty (Sherri); five grandchildren Jeremy, Kelsey, Stuart, Jasmine and Erik. Bruce also leaves behind his dear and caring friend Lyllian.
Bruce and his family left Alberta in 1965 seeking warmer weather on the west coast. Bruce settled in Surrey BC where he continued to work in the sheet metal trade and raise his family. Bruce's older sibling Ron (Verna) and parents Cecil and Beatrice soon followed Bruce to BC. Bruce was involved in many clubs and organizations and was often referred to as a trickster or joker amongst his numerous relatives and friends. He would do almost anything to get the party started. He was a very social person who could interact with anyone and make them laugh with a silly joke or two. Bruce also loved to learn and enjoyed new activities. He picked up the bag pipes and joined the Shriners organization. Bruce shifted his career from steel trades to Corrections Officer at Oakalla Prison and Surrey Pretrial. He soon found new interests in Ham radio, computers, billiards, fly fishing and the revolver club. When Doreen passed away, Bruce moved from Surrey to the Fraser Valley where he met more new friends who introduced him to line dancing and square dancing. Bruce loved to dance and spent several days a week and weekends on the dance floor through out the lower mainland. Bruce danced until his last days.
Bruce will be missed by his many friends and relatives in this community but his infectious laugh and smile will live forever.
A Celebration for Bruce's Life will be held on January 11, 2018 at Victory Memorial Park Funeral Centre, 14831- 28th Avenue, Surrey, at 1:00 pm.
