Bruce Arthur Holmesdale

Bruce was born in Ottawa on February 28, 1935, to Arthur and Muriel Holmesdale. He was the oldest of three children, with two younger sisters: Gail and Ewayne.

As a young child Bruce lived in Victoria. He worked in a dry-cleaner’s place for 14 years where he met Evelyn Kerfoot in 1963. The place Bruce was living in closed, and he was moved into a suite where Evelyn lived. Evelyn was like a mother to him, doing all the cooking, laundry and cleaning.

In 1969 Evelyn and Bruce moved to an apartment block. They lived there until 1979.

When Bruce’s dry-cleaning job came to an end, they moved to a mobile park in Surrey in 1979 and were together until 1990 when Evelyn passed away.

Bruce married Elaine in 1994, and they lived together in the mobile park until 2016, when they moved to Park Place in Surrey.

Bruce was always a great help around the home. He loved their two dogs, Lucy and Cocoa. He enjoyed carpet bowling at Peace Portal for 20 years. He also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles daily, nature walks at Bear Creek Park and by the waters at White Rock.

Bruce had a great love of nature; it made him feel close to God. He was often very observant on these walks and would notice things most people would take for granted.

Bruce’s life represents how God took care of any problem that crossed his path. Someone would help to fix any problem he had. He was always helpful where he could be.

He was a quiet man, who did not get involved in other people’s affairs. He also had a great sense of humour for any situation.

Bruce passed into the presence of the Lord on February 2, 2026, at Surrey Memorial Hospital.
