OBITUARIO

Bryan John Hellyer

26 octubre , 19443 febrero , 2021

Bryan John Hellyer, died peacefully in his sleep on February 3rd 2021, after a long and courageous battle with the aftereffects of cancer treatments. He was born in Vancouver, B.C. on October 26th 1944, to parents, John and Joan Hellyer.

First and foremost, Bryan loved his family and spending time with his wife, daughters and grandchildren who brought him so much joy. He was a sharp dresser, loyal friend, caring husband, loving Dad and the best Grandpa. He was one stubborn, brave, disciplined and strong man, who had a love of life, his family and the Canucks.

He also loved time spent with good friends and neighbours in Brookswood; playing Canasta, attending dinner parties, and listening to loud 70s hits.

Bryan was an exemplary salesman throughout his life; always making the best deals, caring for his clients, and going above and beyond. Outings with Bryan always included a stop to talk with former and future customers; he just seemed to know everyone!

He loved the mountains and was proud to develop his skiing skills in his 40s; happy to spend time on the hills with his family and friends. He also developed his talent as an artist over the years and loved to draw and sketch.

Bryan had a passion for Classic cars; in particular, Hot Rods. He served as secretary for the BC Hot Rod Association and developed many important friendships through both the BCHRA and showing his cars at different car shows around the lower mainland.

Bryan is survived by his loving wife Lee, daughter Cindy and her partner Ron, daughter Nicole and her partner Michael, and grandchildren Brennan, Ronin, Samantha, Oliver, and Lucy. As well as, his brother Wilf, sister-in-law Judy, sister and brother-in-law Lynne and Bob, and niece and nephew, Cara and Bob.

He is preceded in death by his parents John and Joan, twin sister, Beverly and younger brother Gordie.

A celebration of his life will take place in the future when we can all gather together to honour Bryan. In lieu of flowers, donations to the BC Cancer Foundation in Bryan’s name would be greatly appreciated.

Dear Lee & Family,
We were saddened to hear of Bryans passing. Life now seems fleeting as we met you both many years ago at a couples group. We were immediately drawn to you as a fun couple to be around. Bryan conducted himself as a professional businessman and always listened to your needs . He had an engaging warm smile and great laugh. His presence will be missed.

Warm hugs, Pat & John Pattinson

A few years ago I ran into Bryan and mentioned that my first Brookswood Home was on the market, and decided to go to the open house. Was surprised that the kids bedrooms still had the carpet he had sold me in the nineties. Only regret is I should of taken him up on the install, as it was the first & last carpet install I ever did. Condolences to the Hellyer Family, on the loss of a sharp dressed man, with a hot rod.

Lee, so sad. Bryan was always smiling and friendly. Looked forward to him stopping in at my produce store. Always took time to chat. Never saw him walking. He had that trot to get back to business. Bryan and I skied together a couple of times. Great fun. He’s a treasure that his family , friends and co workers will surely miss. .

Dear Lee & family,
Bryan was very courageous & a true gentleman...he always organized the planning meetings & lunches for our '63 Grad Committee --both before & after the events..
I can picture sunny days with Bryan driving down to Crescent Beach in his beautiful Hot Rod & stopping by for a visit..
Sincere condolences,

To Lee and Family
So sorry to learn about Bryan’s passing. We were texting each other a couple weeks ago while he was in the hospital. He mentioned that he had pneumonia and would be out of there in a week.
I can’t say enough about his loyalty as an employee and as a friend. As always when these things happen we regret we did not communicate more with close friends.
I look forward to a celebration of Bryan’s life in the future.

Dearest Lee and family:

We are so sorry for your loss. I've been able to keep up with your recent battle but really didn't expect him to go so soon. I've known your family as long as Judy has been with Wilf and have followed all of your adventures. Please know my thought are with you all and wish only for the best. Take care,

Love & Hugs,
