Donna was born in Penticton B.C. on August 23th, 1948. She grew up in Penticton, spent four years with her husband and daughter at UBC in Vancouver, two years with her family in Ottawa, twenty years with her family in Victoria, and then twenty-four years with her husband in White Rock/South Surrey. Donna was a kind and gentle person with a great sense of humor. She enjoyed reading, gardening, walking, playing cards and the odd happy hour cocktail. She had many friends, including friends in the bridge groups and book clubs she participated in. She was a master at puzzles, whether it was the crossword, Wheel of Fortune or a jigsaw puzzle. She cared diligently and compassionately for her father, mother, and her mother-in-law as they lived deep into old age. She was a caring mother who was always there for her kids, and a loving and supportive wife. She loved the Christmas season and Christmas records. Her smile and her laugh will be remembered by many family and friends and she will be dearly missed by all.
She is survived by her husband Wally Malkinson, her daughter Leah Malkinson (Peter Ronald), her son Trevor Malkinson (Sarah Olson), her granddaughter Chloe Ronald, and her grandson Zachariah Malkinson; by her sister Elinor Hinds, her brother Doug Bertram, her sister Joan Shannon (Marty Shannon) and her sister-in-law Lynda Pickrell; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Coast Hotel in Victoria, between 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm on March 17, 2018. In lieu of flowers folks can donate to the Heart and Stroke Foundation if they so wish.
