It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our sister, mother and friend, Sharon L. Mills, MD. In life she was giving, brave and accomplished. Education was her passion. Some of her most notable academic achievements include a Degree of Arts in Psychology from SFU, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from UBC, and a Doctor of Medicine Degree from Xavier University in Aruba. In addition to her thirst for learning, Sharon was a talented knitter, much like her mother Hilda. Sharon’s favourite items to knit were toques, sweaters and shawls; she took joy in gifting many of her creations to friends and family.
Sharon is survived by her son, Kameron Leung; her daughter, Kimberley Forbes (Jim Longstaffe); 2 grandson’s - Paxon and Cruz Longstaffe; 7 siblings: Robert Thibeau (Nancy), Brenda Vokes (Graham, Oct 1998), Darcy Ward (Terry), Carmel Meldrum (Wayne), Rita Kirsch (John), Janelle Moffat (Chris), and Joel Thibeau; fifteen nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews; and her stepmother, Leah Thibeau. In addition to her husband Wai Man’s passing last year, Sharon was also predeceased by her Mother, Hilda (Aug 1988) and her Father, Phillip (May 2018).
Both Sharon and Wai Man spent most of their lives in a home they built together in South Surrey, 35 years ago. They enjoyed travel, family and tradition. These two MDs exemplify what hard work and determination can earn you. Sharon and Wai Man leave behind a legacy of respect, care and esteem for those who have survived them. May they rest in peace
