Edward (Ted) Saunders, 82, Died on January 26th, 2016at 4:50pm. He is survived by his loving wife, Elaine, his children David (Kelli) Saunders, and Janice (Jeff) Rittenhouse, grandchildren, Adam Lee, Nicholas Lee, Kaitlyn Rittenhouse, and Spencer Saunders, his sister Jean Smith and brother Bob (Anne) Saunders, as well as several nieces and nephews. Born on January 13th, 1934 to Roy and Elsie Saunders of Esquimalt, BC, Ted grew up terrorizing the army barracks and surrounding area with his friends. A basketball star in high school and college, Ted met the light of his life, Elaine. Shortly before beginning a 34 year career with Luck Lager/Labatt’s, the two married and settled in Esquimalt. It was there that Ted coached little league baseball for several years. In 1967 Ted and Elaine moved to New Westminster before retiring to Chelsea Gardens in Surrey BC. From 1981 to 2012, Ted and Elaine RV’d their way through Canada and the United States, touching foot in every state and province. Badminton, tennis, skiing and bridge were common interests and sometimes kept them out of trouble even with the influence of “those” friends (and you know who you are!) Cruising became their holiday of choice in later years. Ted loved a party and being the center of attention. His contagious smile, laughter, and kibitzing will be remembered by all who knew him. We all loved you Ted and will miss you forever! A celebration of life is to be held at First Memorial Fraser Heights Funeral Chapel, in Surrey, BC
