Eileen Margaret Smith

In loving memory of Eileen Margaret Smith, born February 25, 1924 in Vancouver, BC. Eileen left this world March 7, 2026 at New Vista Care Home at 11 p.m. with her beloved children Ernie and Daph by her side.

Eileen was predeceased by her husband Ed, daughter Lynne, mother Isabel, father Ernest, brothers Ernie and Bill, and sisters Amy and Isabel.

Eileen leaves her children Ernie (Linda) and Daphne (Larry), son-in-law Rod, and seven wonderful grandsons and their families: Doug (Cherilee, Mackenzie and Kennedy); Steve (Durvene, Chloe and Teagan); Greg (Lisa, Carter and Alex); Glenn (Shannelle and Jackson); Grant; Keith (Jennefer, Connor and Zach; Natalie, Joe and Rachel); Trevor (Kaaren, Lily and Lauren).

Eileen grew up in Burnaby, and after marrying Ed, lived in Nelson, Kamloops, Prince George, and Victoria, moving as his work required. Although she occasionally worked in sales in the early years, Eileen was first and foremost a proud housewife, devoting her time to her family, friends, church guild, and volunteer work. Over her long lifespan, Eileen was very generous with her love and her time, caring for her husband, children and grandchildren in many ways, cooking, sewing and knitting, as well as planning and hosting family gatherings at various locations around BC. Eileen and Ed moved back to New Westminster to be closer to family in their later years, and received loving support from Ernie on a daily basis for years.

Eileen and Ed spent many happy times with family and their large group of friends and she will be sadly missed. A Celebration of Life will be held for family at a later date.
