Elly Heemskerk

July 3, 1933 – August 29, 2020

Elly Heemskerk (nee van Es) 87 years of age, of Surrey, British Columbia (formerly from Cornwall, Ontario for 62 years), passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 29, 2020. Elly was born July 3, 1933, in den Bommel, Netherlands, to parents Jan Cornelis van Es and Sara Keuvelaar. She is predeceased by her parents, and her siblings Lenie and Pauline.

Elly was the wife of Cornelis Heemskerk for 49 years (predeceased her in 2002), Mother to Keith Heemskerk (Gayle), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA and John Heemskerk (Marian), Surrey, BC, Canada and Brian Heemskerk (predeceased her in 1998). Grandmother to Brandyn (Katie) Schaumburg, IL; Brent of Des Moines, IA; Austin (Makailah), Chicago, IL; Matthew, Surrey, BC and Christina (Michael), Vancouver, BC. Great-grandmother to Zoe, Livvy and Rainer.

Condolences to Elly’s 7 surviving siblings, Corrie (Rouleau, SK), Jannie (Ottawa, ON), Sonja (Barrie, ON), Albert (Calgary, AB), John (Toronto, ON), Jack (Bradford, ON) and Leo (Markdale, ON) and many nieces and nephews.

Pastor Phil Wheaton (Elim Village) and Pastor Tom Bomhof (Fleetwood CRC) will be officiating the memorial service. Musician will be Pastor Natasha Vedder (Fleetwood CRC).

Elly’s final resting place will be in St. Lawrence Valley Cemetery, Long Sault, Ontario on October 2, 2020.
