

Doris was born in Moose Jaw Saskatchewan on October 25, 1934. Her legal name is Elsie Doris Dixon.
Her father was Keith Dixon her Mother’s name was Elsie as well. She grew up with her two brothers: Jack being the older of the two and the youngest Bill.
During her High School years at John Oliver in Vancouver BC in about 1952 she met Ben Hanson at a school musical. The couple hit it off and married the following year.
Doris’s first son Terry was born in 1953. Two years later Doris had her second son Greg. Both Greg and Terry grew up under the watchful wise eye of their mother. She taught the boys about fishing and the outdoors. Moreover, her father Keith was a fishing guide at Sewell’s Marina in Horshoe Bay taking out several celebrities and famous sports stars of the day.
During her married life Doris worked as a public school secretary eventually becoming a CUPE Union Representative. She thoroughly enjoyed her work at CUPE and was at the top of her game while being respected for her tenacity and analytical skills. In short she was a people person and had a keen sense for negotiating. But through all that she never lost the love and commitment to her family. She was a great Mother.
She retired as a national CUPE UNION Representative.
After her first marriage to Ben Hanson she remarried Doctor Frederick Lyndsay Sturrock who incidentally was one of the founding Doctors of BC Biomedical and a Forensic Pathologist at the Royal Columbian Hospital In New Westminster BC.
Sadly both of her husbands passed before she died.
In her last decade of life she lived at Sunridge Gardens in Langley BC before moving to Fraser Health Facilities in Chilliwack BC.
She passed away peacefully at Cascade Lodge in Chilliwack December 12, 2025 at 6pm.
She is survived by her two sons Terry and Greg Hanson.
LOVE is Doris Dixon’s final message to all surviving family, friends and acquaintances. She’ll be missed by all who were fortune and blessed have met her. Elsie Doris Dixon was a great career woman, a great Mother and Outstanding Grandmother.
