Pneumonia had her enter into the hospital 10 days prior, but alas her heart could not hold her through yet another battle. Gladys was a survivor and she got through a lot through her life with her fortitude and determination, but this time was her last struggle.
She had lived to the grand age of 90 that we celebrated back in March of this year. She had Ken and the Lillejord Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren with her in Fort Langley as they took some prized photos by the Old Railway Station. As it turns out those were the last group photos so good timing.
Ken also took her out on Mothers Day just three weeks ago, on one of those lovely long drives she enjoyed with Ken and Mel. She viewed the house of her Granddaughter Sydney who is about to move to Chilliwack.
Gladys is survived by her three living brothers Ernie, Alex, and Nick, by her two children Merelyn Romanick and Ken Lillejord, as well as her six GrandChildren Greg Romanick, Brian Romanick, Barbara Alban-Dobson, Stephanie MacWilliams, Sydney Bradford, and Shawna Bergen, as well as now nine + Great Grandchildren including Kendra, Colton, Teryn, Rylan, Bradyn, Taylor, Paige, Shaya, plus more.
Gladys had a career at Woodwards for more than 20 years starting in the 1960s in New Westminster BC. She primarily worked in the Flower, Garden and Produce departments.
She loved camping, family reunions, travelling, cruising, and loved playing cards. In her last 30 years she took up Bridge and became an avid player, and still played this year.
Gladys Lillejord will be rejoining her husband Mel Lillejord at Victory Memorial Gardens in Surrey BC. Graveside service for family and friends to commence at 1230pm on Friday 16th June 2017 officiated by her Luthern Church Minister Kristine Steele.
