Grace Campbell
1920 – 2011
Grace celebrated her 90th birthday last December the way she always celebrated life, singing and dancing to her favourite jitterbug music. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by family. She will be very much missed by her husband Matthew, with whom she had an everlasting love affair, and who cared for her in every way.
Born in London, England, as the youngest of fourteen children, she was a true ‘cockney’, and loved England, as much as life itself. In the UK she will be missed by her step sisters Nell, and Mary, step brother John, her step-children, Matthew and Laura, and her many nieces and nephews.
Grace came to Canada in 1948 with her husband Arthur and her daughter Geraldine, for her daughter’s health. She is survived in Canada by her daughter Geraldine and son-in-law Ian, her grandchildren Sean and Catherine, whom she adored, and many nieces and nephews in Ontario and the US. She was predeceased by her husband Arthur, whom she cared about very much, as did he care for her. She had many friends and acquaintances, who are also feeling the loss of her vibrant and cheerful presence.
Grace always had a keen interest in business and was successful in many professions and businesses. She was very proud of her service to her country during the Second World War, as a Sergeant in the British Army. She was an entertainer and a champion ballroom dancer. Grace was known for her kindness to those who were in need, and to animals, especially her beloved Buddy, Vinnie and Kitty.
Her spiritual faith was always with her.
May she rest in peace.
