Grant passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2020, after a courageous 18 month struggle with cancer. He will be missed by his loving husband of 33 years, Jeff Starchuk. Grant was predeceased by his brother Cliff and is survived by parent's Trian and Mary; brother Russ (Lynn); sister Reana (Rod) and many nieces and nephews. Grant was born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan but moved to Vancouver in the late 1970s to pursue a career in the hospitality industry. He enjoyed living in the West End for many years, where he met his one true love Jeff in 1986. Grant and Jeff lived all over the lower mainland and had the privilege of getting married in Burnaby, on the 20 year anniversary of their meeting. Grant came from strong Berjian stock. He was proud of the prairie upbringing that made him so resilient and brave. He was a straight shooter, hard worker, exceptional cook and baker, artful decorator and beautiful homemaker. He and Jeff shared a wonderful life full of travel, friends, family, spending weekends in Birch Bay and being doting dads to two beautiful dogs, Winston and Zach. The family wishes to thank the staff at BC Cancer Surrey, Peace Arch Hospital and Surrey Memorial N52 Team. A huge thank you to family Dr. Paul Gross, a truly caring physician. Grant had a team of close friends and family who helped immensely and rallied around him throughout his cancer journey. Memorial donations can be made to the CaringBridge.org. Due to pandemic restrictions, a Celebration of Life has been postponed until further notice. Interment will be at the Berjian family plot in Regina, Saskatchewan later this summer.
