October 23, 2024, Chemainus, British Columbia — John Edgeworth Patterson, age 85, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully.
A devoted father to four children—Holly, Dawn, Clay, and Allen—John cherished spending time with their families and creating lasting memories with his grandchildren, whether at the beach or exploring his charming town. John was also fortunate to have Joy Stalinski as a part of his life. Her companionship brought him years of happiness as they shared many adventures together.
John was a great provider, ensuring his family had everything they needed for a happy childhood. He was known for his remarkable skills; there was little he couldn’t build or fix, and he was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
John found happiness in reading, playing bridge, and taking long walks around Chemainus, or simply sitting quietly enjoying the beautiful views from his oceanfront home, where he loved watching the activity on the bay.
In his later years, John found pleasure in simpler activities, such as attending seniors’ group days, shuffleboard, and bingo nights. Food was another highlight of his daily life, with a particular fondness for a Reuben sandwich.
John will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will live on through the happy memories he leaves behind.
