Lou is predeceased by his Dad Larry, (1998) and his Momma, Julia (2004). He is survived by his wife Beverly; daughter Vanessa; son Ryan (Vanessa); brother Jerry (aka Jayson), Bren (Denise); sister Marla (Dale); sister-in-law Sharon; and many nephews, nieces, cousins, friends including Rene Picard who was a great friend to him until the end.
Lou was born in Edmonton, Alberta, and started his road to drumming at the tender age of 12. His drumming career flourished during his teen years with the Edmonton Bands Franklin Stove and Privilege to name a few and he eventually relocated to Vancouver at 18 to initially join his older brother Jayson’s band. It wasn’t long before Lou’s drumming skills became a mainstay in the Vancouver music scene.
Over the years, Lou has done many studio sessions, along with TV and radio commercials and was a drummer in a number of theatre arts club performances. He has played for many high profile entertainers in the music industry throughout his career and became a staple in freelancing for all the great Vancouver Bands with his talented renowned drumming skills. – Yes, Hooves’s Groove will be remembered by many.
He struggled for the last 6 years, eventually succumbing to Parkinson’s. we will miss this legendary man and musician greatly. A celebration of Lou will be held and announced at a later date.
