He was predeceased by all his five siblings Ingeborg, Inga, Anna, Ivar and Ole, his son-in-law Bill and granddaughter Lisa. He will be greatly missed by ALL those who knew him, and that he left behind, especially his wife of 77 years Kalma; his children Inger, Harry (Sue), and Irene (Rob); his grandchildren Christopher (Cathy), Lisa’s husband Chip, Kari (Steven) and Heidi; his great grandchildren Iris, Hazel, Ruthie, Olive, Dylan, Ole and Solomon and numerous nieces and nephews both in the lower mainland and in Norway.
Magne was born in Børsa, Norway but grew up in Trondheim, Norway. In 1945 he met Kalma, his soulmate for the next 80 plus years at Betel Church. They were married in 1948 and emigrated to Canada in 1952 along with daughter Inger. They settled in Hythe, Alberta where son Harry was born. Five years later they moved to the Surrey/Langley area of the lower mainland of BC where Irene was born.
Magne was a skilled mechanic and operated an auto body business in Surrey until 1969 when he did a full 180-degree turn in career and went back to school to train as a realtor which he worked at until his retirement in 1987.
Magne had a long and happy life, centered around his family and Christian faith. He was an inspiration to his children with his strong work ethic, integrity, honesty and his “the cup is half full” attitude to life. He doted on his grandchildren and great grandchildren and their affection and respect for him ran deep.
Magne and Kalma loved to travel and took many trips to Norway and Hawaii. They also enjoyed camping with groups of friends and cross-country skiing.
The last year was challenging for Magne as he faced several health and mobility challenges, but he gracefully persevered with the support of family, friends and his strong faith. His family wishes to thank his NP Tasenka Kushner and the staff at Magnolia Gardens Care Center in Langley for their compassion and dedication to his care.
A Celebration of Life will be planned later in the spring of 2026.
