Manuel Pereira Frias passed away at the age of 86 on Friday, April 14th at Peace Arch Hospital surrounded by his wife, Lucia, his two daughters, Anabela and Lisa, his son-in-law Daniel and his grandchildren.
Manuel and his wife, Lucia lived in Whiterock BC for the past 10 years. The two were married for 61 wonderful years.
Manuel was born in Portugal to a large family of 14 siblings. He proudly served in the Portuguese Navy for 4 years. Shortly after, Manuel and Lucia moved to Winnipeg, Canada where he pursued his passion for cars. Manuel became a mechanic and built his own auto mechanic business. Upon retiring, the couple moved back to Portugal and enjoyed many amazing years in the Algarve.
Manuel embodied the value of kindness. Anyone who met Manuel, would describe his as a gentle and down to earth soul. He always gave to those in need and was foundational in his extended family’s immigration to Canada.
Manuel was easy going and ever present with his family. More than anything, Manuel enjoyed spending time with his daughters and grandchildren. He loved the simple daily routine of enjoying a Tim’s coffee and chocolate chip cookie at Whiterock beach.
Manuel will forever be an inspiration of kindness to his family. He will live on in our hearts and will be greatly missed by his wife, Lucia, his two daughters, Anabela and Lisa, son-in-law Daniel, grandchildren, Jessica, Daniella, Joshua, Stefanie and Daniella. We love you.
A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, April 20th, 11am at Gardens of Gethsemani. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Peace Arch Hospital Foundation.
You will forever be in our hearts.
