Mary "Pauline" Jones

Mary “Pauline” Jones (nee Kenny), previously Pauline Akerman (80), passed away peacefully on February 25, 2023, at Morgan Place care home in South Surrey.

She was well loved by the dedicated staff and surrounded by many family members in her final days. Pauline was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, on December 13, 1942, to Dan and Dolly (Knox) Kenny, and raised in Vancouver most of her life with her siblings Joan (Jerry) Harper and Norman Kenny. Her older siblings, Noreen (Edgar) Perry and Johnny (Caroline) Gallant lived in Prince Edward Island and Halifax, respectfully, with their families. Pauline married her high school sweetheart, Ed Akerman, in 1963. They lived in Richmond and together raised Patti (Tony) Tweddle and Debbie (Russ) Rourke. Sadly, Ed passed away in 1984.

Pauline found love again and married Ken Jones in May 1987 and became stepmom to Wayne (Bev), Mark (Jayne), and Debra (Glen). Together they shared 30 years of laughter, love, travel and family celebrations for every occasion. They are remembered for their enthusiastic Christmas decorating! Sadly, Ken passed away in 2017.

Pauline was proud grandmother to: Dale (Sarah) Jones and Natalie (Russ) Waller; Rhiannon, Keeley, and Tathan Jones; Curtis and Carter Rourke; Stanley and Brian Tweddle; and Leila and Kaelyn Jones. She was great grandmother to Courtney and Cody and great-great grandmother to Grayson and Hudson in the UK. Pauline also deeply loved and was a dedicated aunt to her niece Karen (Stan) Kawamoto and sons, Matt and Nick.

Pauline was a dedicated wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend. She was a woman who welcomed everyone, loved to laugh, enjoyed life, and celebrated everything. She always saw the bright side of things, faced hard times with determination and a smile. We are thankful for the lessons she taught and for the love that she gave. We are not saying goodbye, we are saying thank you.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Victory Memorial Park on Friday June 23, 2023, at 1:00PM with refreshments to follow. Donations to an Alzheimer’s Society https://alzfdn.org/support-us/donate/ would be greatly appreciated in lieu of flowers.
