May Tokke passed away on December 5, 2025 at Peace Arch Hospital in White Rock. Born in Edmonton on May 16, 1944, she and her family settled in BC when she was a girl. She is pre deceased by her parents, John & Evelyn Glebe, as well as her siblings Florence, Ruby, Harvey & Johnny. Also predeceased by “Rip” Mazzantti, Erich Tokke, step-daughter Eva and step daughter-in-law Cheryl.
She is survived by her children, Maria & Martin and step-children Helen & Hans.
May loved people and had a dynamic helping spirit. Even when she was near the end, she sought out opportunities to soothe and comfort others. Wherever she went, she was beloved. Her love of style and esthetics showed itself perfectly while working as a professional hairdresser for decades. Each day was an opportunity for her to show up looking fabulous and guide others to their own beauty. Her closet was always full to bursting with shoes, coats, dresses, scarves, hats and purses.
Still a young woman, she was widowed and bravely raised her son and daughter by herself. Later in life, she married again, sharing many happy years with her second husband.
May was blessed with 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Although cooking and cleaning were among her least favorite activities, she happily hosted countless family gatherings for her ever-expanding blended family. She was generous with her affection and always provided a nurturing environment for her beloved granddaughters.
May found comfort in her faith, attending and serving in her church regularly throughout her lifetime. As a mature student, she graduated from Jubilee Bible College in 1985. The bible verse she treasured most was Proverbs 3:5-6, which says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths."
The love and devotion to her family and friends will live on forever in our hearts. Until we see her again, we can take comfort knowing she is resting in peace, free from suffering and confusion.
