It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Neil Clayton Marsh, loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and cousin. He was a gentle soul who fought his health battles with courage and dignity. He will be missed by all who knew him, but especially his family.
Neil is survived by his wife of 61 years, Bea, his daughter, Juli (Grant), his son, Gordon (Michelle), and his grandchildren, Brandon (Selina), Darren, Anna, Taggart and Ryker. He is predeceased by his parents, Stanley and Marguerite, his infant brother, Stanley, and his sisters, Juli and Johanne.
Neil grew up in Toronto, Ontario. He attended Ryerson University, graduating as an Electronic Technician. He was an avid ham radio operator for many years in Ontario, Alberta and BC. He worked at Zenith for six years, did some geological surveying on Haida Gwaii and then became a Chartered Life Underwriter, joining his father at London Life. His career with London Life took him to Edmonton, Alberta and then on to Vancouver, BC. He met his wife, Bea, in 1958 and they married in 1961, celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary with family and friends last September, 2021.
Neil joined the Freemasons in 1979 in Edmonton, Alberta. Upon moving to BC, he joined the Eureka Masonic Lodge in Langley, where he achieved the role of Worshipful Master in 2014. He was also a member of the Gizeh Shriners of BC and Yukon, providing much-needed and medically necessary equipment to improve the quality of life of many children in BC and the Yukon.
His family extends their deep gratitude to the staff at Langley Memorial Hospital and Langley Hospice who made Neil’s final days comfortable, providing him with respect, dignity and grace.
Neil, Dad, Gramps – you loved us, and we love you … now and forever.
