

Mrs. Patricia May “Pat” Thomson (nee Leary), aged 86, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2026, in Surrey, British Columbia. Born on August 31, 1939, in Abbotsford, British Columbia to parents George (Ernie) and Georgina Leary. Brother John (Jack) and sister Joyce. Pat lived a full and vibrant life dedicated to her family, friends, and community.
Pat was the beloved wife of the late Allan Thomson and a devoted mother to her children: James (Gloria), Gordon (Linda), Lisa (Randy) and Todd (Kim). She was predeceased by her daughter Debra Knight and grandsons Taylor Knight and Christopher Knight. Pat’s legacy lives on through her 16 grandchildren: Blake, Eric, Shannon; David, Shelby, Brandon; Tara, Jessica, Megan, Travis, Jason, Ashley and Nicollette; Alana, Lucas; and Alyssa and her 11 great grandchildren.
Pat is survived by her closest sister-in-law Irene (Jack) Leary and her family, who were very close enjoying company and precious times together over many years.
Pat’s journey was quite a winding road from leaving home at the early age of 16 to start a new chapter in her life with Allan. Allan’s career path involved many changes in employment to advance his qualifications and provide for his family. This often required moving the family to be near his workplace. The adventures were endless and Pat embraced the challenges of motherhood and meeting new friends along the way. By the age of 30 she had 5 children and at 40, six grandchildren. Pat was the second in line of 5 generations that sat together for a photograph to commemorate this exceptional achievement.
By the time Pat and Allan settled down they had moved their home 15 times and lived in10 different towns: Hammond, Port Moody, Ocean Falls, Ladysmith, Coquitlam, Edmonton, South Delta, Vancouver, Surrey and White Rock.
From a young age of 28 Pat played an integral role in supporting the family business that Allan established in Edmonton in 1967. Whether attending administrative duties or accompanying Allan and other staff or family members on business social and networking events, with her grace and charm, she was a constant source of encouragement. In the office setting, she handled accounting and administrative tasks with cheerfulness and dedication Her unwavering support extended not only to her family but also to colleagues who valued her warmth and generosity.
Pat had a zest for life that shone through in everything she did. She was an exceptional cook having taken courses in various ethnic types. She enjoyed preparing meals for loved ones. An avid runner and occasional skier and golfer she enjoyed staying active into her later life. Her love for travel often brought her to places near the ocean and beaches where she cherished time spent with family. Known for being generous with her time and a natural socializer, Pat formed meaningful connections wherever she went.
Her memory will be treasured by all who knew her as a loving matriarch whose kindness and energy left an indelible mark on those around her. She was especially fond of her time spent with her grandchildren.
