It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Paul Michael McGrath, peacefully at home on February 6 in White Rock, British Columbia surrounded by the love of his family. He was 72.
Paul will be lovingly remembered as a caring man with a wonderful sense of humour and a natural gift for storytelling. He built a successful career in sales that spanned five decades where his warmth, quick wit, and ability to connect with people served him well. Paul never met a stranger — he had a way of making others It feel comfortable and valued, often drawing them in with his great stories and easy laughter.
Paul was immensely devoted to his family. He shared 56 wonderful years with his beloved wife, Wenda, and was a proud father to two children, Sean (Stacey) and Paul JR. He had the two best grandkids in Brooklyn and Carter. Though all of the kids and grandkids are taller than he is, his love for them stands taller still.
He enjoyed travelling, any kind of travelling. Paul and Wenda spent years cruising, camping, taking vacations to far away places, sailing and nothing made him happier than to hop on his motorcycle to visit with Friends and Customers. He loved breakfast for lunch, intense games of scrabble, and never turned down a glass of scotch with his sons.
He is survived by his Mother, Ethel, and siblings Pat (Linda), Geri (Anne), Mary (Harvey), Kevin, Theresa (Rob) and Katie. Paul and his Mother often colour-coordinated on their visits together. All of the siblings have Ethels’ signature smile and McGrath white hair.
His other family came by the way of his career in the pet industry. He was a pioneer who has helped pave the way for others to follow and become successful. This year marks 35 years with Burgham Sales. He was very fond of his Team and will miss them all greatly.
For 10 years, Paul fought a strong battle against cancer alongside his Medical Team who were open and willing to try almost anything and everything to help him beat that demon. Our infinite thanks to Dr. Lyly Le for her kindness, compassion, caring and eventually what turned into friendship.
His passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
On a piece of paper that had been well reflected and thought about, his final thought. This simple sentence:
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam
Which translates to May he rest in peace.
