Paul was born in North Vancouver to Marrion and James Moores and grew up alongside his siblings Geraldine Patterson (deceased) and Jim Moores. Paul is survived by his beloved wife Janice Moores, daughters Patricia and Karen Moores, and grandchildren Nicholas and Alexander Mein, and Travis Runnalls.
Paul lived a life of integrity. He was a devoted husband, a supportive father, and a proud grandfather. Steady and reliable, Paul also had a wonderfully silly side—known for his funny faces and playful sayings like, “No one is perfect, but I’m as close as you can get, ha!” and “I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken, …hehe”.
He spent most of his career with BCTel/Telus, where he was a dedicated colleague and advocate. His commitment to union activities and his pioneering work in workplace ergonomics left a lasting impact. At home in Burnaby, the sweet songs of his prized canaries filled the air, and he found joy and satisfaction in simple actions such as chopping wood—whether camping or visiting his sister on the Sunshine Coast.
In retirement, Paul and Janice remained close with the cherished friends they made raising their family in the “Davies Street gang.” Together, they enjoyed sailing the Cobber along the BC coast, gardening, golfing, and traveling abroad. Paul also gave back to his community through volunteering with Meals on Wheels and teaching navigation with the Power Squadron. In his later years, Paul remained a familiar and friendly presence in the neighborhood, often seen walking and greeting neighbors and their dogs with his signature warmth and cheer.
Paul was humble, honest, and giving. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A celebration of life will be organized for family and friends at a later date.
