Peter Charles Jillings, aged 87, passed away peacefully in White Rock, British Columbia, surrounded by family.
Born in Vancouver, BC, Peter lived an extraordinary life defined by faith, family, and hard work. At 18, he moved to New Zealand, where he met the love of his life, Marina, and together they raised seven children — Tony, Steve, Greg, Kiri, Arama, Dan, and Eloise.
A true entrepreneur, Peter built a wide range of successful businesses over his lifetime — from bustling cafés and coffee shops in Auckland to nationwide decorating and plumbing franchises in Canada. He had a lifelong passion for real estate, buying, renovating, and selling homes with a keen eye for opportunity and a love of the deal.
While Peter achieved much in business, his greatest pride was always his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather — the heart of a large and loving family that now includes 21 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Peter was deeply dedicated to his faith and lived by its values of service, kindness, and integrity. He loved sports, especially rugby, and proudly supported his favorite team — the New Zealand All Blacks. He also had a lifelong fascination with cars and racing, reflecting his energy and drive for life.
He will be remembered for his warmth, humor, work ethic, faith, and devotion to those he loved.
Peter is survived by his beloved wife, Marina, their seven children and their spouses, 21 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. His legacy lives on through them — in their love for family, their ambition, their faith, and their joy for life.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 11, at 1:30 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 15450 20th Avenue in White Rock, BC. All who knew Peter are welcome to join in celebrating his life.
“He lived fully, loved and was loved deeply, and left a family as strong and enduring as the life he built.”
