Peter Werner

Peter Werner passed away Friday June 28, 2013 in St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver after a short illness and succumbed after a stroke. He was a long time resident of Vancouver. Peter was born in Bataszek, Hungary on March 26, 1930. He lived in Munich from 1944 to 1959 when he left there to come to Canada on the passenger Liner Ibernia. Predeceased by his parents, Peter Werner Sr. and Magdalena Hauer and two brothers Georg of Germany who passed away March 28, 2007 and Stefan of California on May 12, 1999. Peter is survived by his wife of 61 years, Elisabeth, and two sisters-in-law, Magdalena (Lenka) Werner of Germany and Arlene Werner of California plus many nieces and nephews. Peter was a very genuine, down to earth person, he was loved and respected by his family and all of his friends. He will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him. We want to thank the Doctors and Nurses of St. Paul's for their care and kindness to Peter with special mention of Peter's doctor... Dr. Kenneth Ryan who was especially attentive to Peter’s needs while he was in the hospital. The hospital staff were very helpful to Peter's wife, Elisabeth, and she is very grateful to them for the special care and attention paid to her. A Memorial Service will be held in honour of Peter Werner, Saturday, August 10th, 2013 at 1:00pm at Victory Memorial Park - 14831, 28th Ave., Surrey, BC.
