Cole, Ronald, May 10, 1922 – July 4, 2010. It is with great affection that we remember Ronald Cole who died peacefully in his sleep at Peace Arch Hospital. The loving and devoted husband of Evelyn, father to John and Angela and Michael (predeceased); proud grandfather to Richard and Michelle; great-grandfather to Cole, Lily and Jack. He will be missed by all those who knew him. Born in Wales to a coal mining family, this proud WWII Veteran who found himself parachuting into campaigns in Norway, North Africa, Italy, Palestine and Arnhem, could always be found selling poppies every Remembrance Day. Small in stature but strong in heart, this one time chimney sweep, fireman, farm labourer, locksmith and Shell Canada employee will be remembered for his selfless devotion to his wife, his quest to grow the most perfect leeks, his love of soccer and rugby and his tireless fight against growing old. We are all far better people for having been in his company. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Peace Arch Hospital Foundation, 15521 Russell Avenue, White Rock, BC, V4B 2R4.
