Ronald Shand Kelman
June 14th 1940 to March 17th 2026
Beloved Husband to Lynne for 61 years, cherished father to Ruth, Louise and Rebecca , Son in Law Bryan and Grandfather to Joshua.
Beloved brother to Tom (Barbara), Stan (Leigh) Isabella (Bill, deceased) Vera (Tom).
His legacy lives on through them and all the lives he touched along the way.
Preceded in death by Mother Helen, Father Stanley and Sister Margaret (Robert). Their memories remained a cherished part of his life.
Born in Aberdeen, Scotland, Ron never quite lost that Scottish twang.
Everyone who knew and met Ron loved him instantly----his twinkling smile, his quick wit, his laugh and his compassion and understanding. He was a gentleman through and through.
Ron spent most of his life working in the fine paper industry----in Vancouver with Coast Paper, where he spent many happy and productive years until retirement. The friends that he made in that workplace he cherished.
He loved to travel and Lynne and he were so lucky to visit so many parts of the world that they wanted to see.
He loved photography and immersed himself in it upon retirement. Always happy to mentor fellow photographers, you would often see him around our local beaches and at air shows with his camera around his neck, tripod in hand, always stopping to point out to passers by, interesting birds, fascinating airplanes and the like.
Ron Loved to golf and had a special bunch of golfing buddies who were so dear to him. The wives were allowed to join them sometimes and there are many special memories of fun golfing trips.
He appreciated good music and loved to listen to a mixed genre – from the classics to Willie Nelson, Leonard Cohen and Diana Krall, Santana and Ray Charles and rocker Chris Rock.
His last few years were difficult for him in health, but he never complained and enjoyed each day as it came. He spent many happy hours reminiscing with Lynne and his girls about trips they had taken.
The family had a quiet burial for Ron at Sunnyside Lawn Cemetery, close to their home, on March 27th of this year.
Gratitude to all the staff at Melville Hospice, White Rock and to Peace Arch Hospital and to all the Fraser Health care aids that helped him at home while he was in the hospital bed in the living room and to all the doctors and specialists we have met along the way.
In lieu of flowers Ron’s family would appreciate any who wish, to donate to Peace Arch Hospice Society in White Rock BC.
Ron will be in heaven now, but his presence is felt all around us.
