Vincent Ruan, age 32, of Surrey, British Columbia, passed away suddenly on March 9, 2026. A brilliant engineer and a gifted athlete, Vincent was a man of unwavering integrity whose greatest and most cherished titles were Husband and Father.
Born in Taiwan and raised in Surrey, Vincent was a "torchbearer" in every sense of the word. Whether commanding the volleyball court or representing his community as a torchbearer for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, he led with a natural grace that made his parents, Roy and Sandy, immensely proud. He carried that same light into his studies at UBC and Tsing Hua University, eventually becoming a respected engineer for global leaders like TSMC and Samsung. At work, he was the man everyone turned to; he met every challenge with reason, poise, and deep patience, always focused on lifting others up.
Yet, the most beautiful part of Vincent’s story was his devotion to his wife, Elaine. She was truly the girl next door— she was his childhood friend and her first love. Even when oceans separated them, with Vincent in Taiwan and Elaine in Japan, he never let the distance dull his commitment. Vincent lived by "doting promises," and he never once broke his word. He worked tirelessly to ensure Elaine never felt alone or overwhelmed, building a home anchored in his quiet strength.
To you, Ezra: As you grow, you will see your father’s eyes in your own. Know that you were his greatest joy and pride. You are his legacy. He was a scholar, an athlete, and a man of immense character, but above all, he was a father who wanted nothing more than to cherish and guide you. Though his time was far too short, his light remains a steady hand on your shoulder.
You are so loved, Ezra. Just as he loved you.
A Memorial will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at the First Memorial Funeral Services Fraser Heights Chapel at 11am. All are welcome to attend.
