It is with sorrow on the passing of Walter Pringle and with gratefulness for his life that we make this announcement. Walter was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to Ernest and Eva Pringle and grew to adulthood in Harris, Saskatchewan. Walter proudly enlisted in the RCAF and joined his two brothers in England during WW2. His oldest brother Bert was killed in action – which had a profound effect on Walter and family.
Walter joined Eaton’s in 1948, his only employer post World War II, retiring in 1990 after 42 years of service. Walter had the pleasure of dozens of buying trips with Eaton’s - to Montreal, New York and Asia including visits to Mainland China in the 1970’s shortly after the country opened to Western business. Walter loved to tell stories about his time at Eaton’s and made lifelong friends with co-workers there. A special thanks to Ross Williams from the Eaton’s days who kept Walter company near the end.
In 1950 Walter married Mary Hucul, his wife of 64 years. Their children, Bill, Bob and Kathy were all born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, and they also lived in Regina, Winnipeg and Vancouver where they retired. Walter and Mary were inseparable companions with a true devotion to each other.
Walter will be remembered for his loyalty to staff and friends, love of family, and as a great buyer and manager.
Walter is survived by his wife, Mary Pringle (Hucul), his sons Bill (Maggie) Pringle, and Bob (Patrice) Pringle and daughter, Kathryn (Michael Butler) Pringle, his grandchildren, Heather , Laura , Scott , Lachlan , Madeleine and Gavin Pringle, brother Bill (May) Pringle and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Cathy Pringle, Fred and Waunetah Hucul and Sandy and Shirley Hucul, many nephews and nieces that showed Walter great love and many special friends across the Prairies and in British Columbia including dear friend Ivy Hadley. Walter was predeceased by his brothers, Jack (Marion) Pringle (Major WWII, Army), Bert Pringle (Flying Officer, killed in action) and Staff Sargent (RCMP) Harry Pringle, and nephew, Bert Pringle and dear friend Vince Hadley.
A Celebration of Walter’s life will be held on Friday, March 27, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Morgan Creek Golf Clubhouse, 3500 Morgan Creek Way, Surrey, BC.
The family wishes to thank the friends and family who have supported Walter and Mary over these past 3 difficult months.
