We invite you to join us in celebrating Yegen’s life on Saturday, November 25, from 11:30 am to 1 pm at First Memorial Funeral Services Fraser Heights Chapel at 14835 Fraser Hwy, Surrey, BC, Canada to honor Yegen's memory and legacy as we gather in remembering this remarkable man.
Yegen was born in Wanzai, Jiangxi, China to Junxiang Zhang, a skilled carpenter, and Jinmei Xin, a devoted homemaker, on December 5, 1938. Raised initially as an only surviving child, his family later grew with the adoption of a daughter. Yegen graduated from high school in 1958 and went on to dedicate four decades of his life to Yichun Pneumatic Tool Company as a highly-skilled electrical technician. In September 1963, he married his beloved wife, Shuxiang Zhu, and together they raised three wonderful children.
In 2002, Yegen and Shuxiang took a significant step by immigrating to Canada, becoming permanent residents and living in various cities including Burnaby, Prince George, and Surrey. That same year, Yegen embraced Christianity, actively participating in church activities with his wife. He was known for his intelligence, kindness, humility, hard work, and great sense of humor. Yegen, an enthusiastic chess player, also enjoyed learning English, immersing himself in Canadian culture, and sharing insights about his Chinese heritage. Most importantly, he cherished every moment spent with his family, particularly relishing the times with his grandchildren as they grew up, filling those moments with love, laughter, and the warmth of family bonds.
Yegen is survived by his wife, Shuxiang; his daughter Tracy and son-in-law Fagen, grandsons Steven and Daniel; his son William and grandson Philip; and his son Wenfei, daughter-in-law Grace, and granddaughter Nancy.
