

Charles Couitt, “Sparky,” age 89, of Fall River, passed away January 17, 2015 in Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Irene (Bishop) Couitt to whom he has been married for the past 66 years.
Born in Swansea, a son of the late Frank Couitt Jr. and Cora (Fratus) Couitt, he lived in Portsmouth, Middletown, Warren, and Swansea before moving to Fall River over forty years ago.
A graduate of Joseph Case High School, class of 1943, he was a Veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II as a Boatswain’s Mate 2nd Class.
Mr. Couitt worked as a Machinist at G.W. Dahl Company in Bristol for many years before retiring in 1990. An avid bowler, he was a member of the Dudek Senior Bowling League and the Portuguese American Club both in Warren. He also enjoyed playing golf.
In addition to his wife he is survived by three sons: Charles M. Couitt and his wife Karen of Oceanside, CA, Stephen J. Couitt and his wife Marcy of Berkley, MA, Richard W. Couitt and his wife Susan Fortes-Couitt of Swansea, MA, two daughters: Susan L Souza of Swansea, MA, Cheryl A. Mullenhour and her husband Donald of Fall River, eleven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was brother of the late Frank Couitt III, James Couitt, and Florence Sears.
His Funeral will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at 8:00AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at BIRCHCREST, 189 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:00AM in St. Dominic’s Church, 1277 G.A.R. Highway, Swansea. Visiting hours Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00PM. Contributions in his honor may be made to The Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
