Charles F. Parente, Jr.

Charles F. “Charlie” Parente, Jr., age 92, of Swansea, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Somerset Ridge Center. He was the loving husband of Barbara A. (Marconi) Parente, with whom he shared 67 years of marriage.

Born in Fall River, Charlie was the son of the late Charles F. Parente, Sr. and Vincenzia (Nardelli) Parente.

After graduating from high school at the age of 17, Charlie began his lifelong career with Arden Jewelers in Providence, where he worked for an extraordinary 73 years, taking only a brief break to serve in the United States Army. He retired at the age of 80 as superintendent, a role that reflected his dedication, work ethic, and pride in his profession.

Charlie took great pride in the garden he tended for many years alongside his cousin Sal Nardelli, growing exceptional vegetables that he used to prepare his favorite meals. Above all else, he cherished his family.

In addition to his wife, Barbara, he is survived by his sons, Chuck Parente and his wife Kelly of Swansea, Christopher Parente of Swansea, and Vincent Parente and his wife MaryJune of Uxbridge. He was a devoted “Poppi” to his grandchildren, Ainge, Vincent, Dominic, Nicholas, and Christopher, and to his great-grandchildren, Urijah, Xavier, Sofia, Braylee, and Gentry. He also leaves his sister, Jenny Berrier of Fall River, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Paul Parente, Antoinette Harrison, and Josephine Graci.

His funeral will be held Friday, January 9, 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Road, Swansea followed by burial in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation will be held Friday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, prior to the funeral.
