
Born in Abbey, Saskatchewan, Canada, a daughter of the late John and Anna (Gunilla) Sands, she immigrated to the Unites States in 1942 after her marriage to Waldo. Together for 60 years, they lived in many different communities throughout the country and Europe, including Clearwater, Florida. Emmy moved to New England in 2005.
She was a buyer in the fashion industry and an excellent sewer. She enjoyed making clothing for herself and her family. She was an avid bridge player, and also a champion amateur golfer.
She is survived by one daughter; Patricia Anne Jones Lawrence and her husband Bradford Lawrence of Swansea, one son; Douglas Whitney Jones of Lindsay, OK; one sister, Jean Winbigler of San Antonio, TX; three grandchildren; James Brigham Clark, Rachel Ayres Clark, and Christopher Douglas Jones; three great grandchildren; Harris Jones, James H. Clark, and Annalise C. Clark, and many nieces and nephews. She was sister of the late Harry Sands.
Her Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 11:00AM in the Seekonk Congregational Church, 600 Fall River Ave., Seekonk. Relatives, friends, and caregivers cordially invited. Kindly omit flowers. Memorial contributions in her honor may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Association, The Marine Museum at Fall River, or the Seekonk Congregational Church. Arrangements are in the care of the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Birchcrest, Swansea.
